About Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service (AWAHS)
AWAHS is a leading Aboriginal health organisation dedicated to delivering holistic and culturally appropriate primary health care services to the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people of Albury, Wodonga and surrounding regions. With over 90 staff, AWAHS has been caring for the local community for 20 years and is committed to improving health outcomes and creating generational change. Your Role As an Aboriginal Health Promotion Worker, you will lead culturally responsive health promotion initiatives that address community needs and empower individuals to take charge of their health. You will work collaboratively with the team to provide support for the local indigenous people to improve their health outcomes. Your key responsibilities will include:
Championing community development and health promotion initiatives and demonstrate and role model respectful relationships with elders, leaders, community members and families
Identifying local health priorities and coordinating programs to enhance community wellbeing
Developing and delivering engaging, culturally sensitive education, awareness, and prevention programs to boost health literacy
Advocating for culturally appropriate health practices and raising awareness of Aboriginal health issues by being a driver and communicator of AWAHS programs and services to all service providers
Marketing and designing health promotional materials to internal and external networks delivering high impact and community reach
What You Bring
Proven expertise in designing, developing, and implementing health promotion programs
Exceptional design skills and marketing expertise in creating impactful, culturally relevant campaigns
Strong understanding of social media platforms and skill in using AI tools to promote AWAHS, its services, and new programs effectively
Knowledge of software tools to develop and promote health initiatives and programs for maximum impact and engagement
Deep knowledge and lived experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues and a passion for reducing health disparities and improving community wellbeing
Strong community connections and up-to-date cultural and health knowledge to educate and inspire
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
