About the role: This is an executive leadership role, reporting directly to the CEO. You will oversee statutory compliance under the Children’s Guardian Act, lead multidisciplinary teams, strengthen safeguarding systems and drive program innovation across Albury and Deniliquin.
We are seeking a strong, values-driven Programs Manager & Principal Officer. You will:
Lead our Child Welfare and Permanency Support (OOHC) program, ensuring safe, stable and culturally appropriate outcomes for children and young people
Champion our Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) and family preservation programs, strengthening families and preventing children from entering care where possible
Oversee housing and transport services that assist vulnerable families to access safe housing, services and community supports
Guide the Safe & Strong Program, delivering counselling and practical assistance to victim-survivors of family violence and their children
Drive quality improvement, compliance and strong governance across all programs
Inspire a collaborative, future-focused leadership culture across teams and services
You will play a key role in shaping strategy, building culture, and leading Woomera into its next chapter.
What you will bring:
Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and experience working with Aboriginal communities
Diploma in Community Services, Leadership & Management (or similar) or willingness to obtain
Knowledge of Principal Officer legislative responsibilities under the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act and Children’s Guardian Act
Strong leadership experience across community service programs
Experience in child and family services, including early intervention
Understanding of compliance, governance and safeguarding requirements
Ability to lead teams, manage risk and drive program quality
Experience in program development, partnerships and Grant writing
Commitment to empowering Aboriginal families through culturally safe practice
