Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service (AWAHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family and community health and wellbeing needs through extensive clinical and community programs.
The AWAHS Medical Receptionists are the first point of contact in this important multi service health hub and we are seeking a dynamic and caring Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander administration professional to support the quality care experience for AWAHS patients.
We are seeking a FULL TIME or PART TIME receptionist for the Wodonga community health centre.
This is an identified role. Applicants are required to be of Aboriginal or Torres strait Islander heritage
About the role:
Be the first point of contact for the organisation, creating a welcoming and professional experience for all patients and visitors
Provide high-quality customer service and support to patients, clients and team members
Build positive relationships with patients and colleagues, while always respecting privacy and maintaining dignity
Handle sensitive information with care, professionalism and discretion
Answer and manage phone calls in a timely and professional manner, ensuring messages are passed on and followed up as needed
Coordinate appointments, manage bookings and keep the patient management system up to date
Assist with phone triage and support the smooth running of the community health clinic
Support the Administration Manager with general administrative tasks and any additional duties as required
What you will bring:
The ability to communicate with patients, families and community in a respectful, clear and culturally appropriate way
A warm, welcoming, and caring approach with a genuine commitment to supporting Aboriginal people and community wellbeing
Good computer skills and confidence using systems such as Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn new programs
A positive attitude toward ongoing learning, including training and professional development to grow in the role
Previous experience in a medical or reception role is welcomed, but not essential
A demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture, values and community, with a commitment to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner
