AWAHS is launching an exciting new ‘Journey to Motherhood’ Program to provide culturally safe, wraparound care for Aboriginal women and women carrying Aboriginal babies throughout pregnancy, birth and early parenting.

This is an opportunity to join a passionate multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal women, babies and families while creating lasting change for future generations.

As the Aboriginal Health Worker, you will be at the heart of the Journey to Motherhood Program, walking alongside Aboriginal women and families throughout pregnancy, birth and the early years.

You will provide culturally safe support, education, advocacy and practical assistance while helping families access healthcare, community services, parenting programs and other supports. Your role will strengthen cultural connections and improve health outcomes for mothers, babies and children.  

You will have
  • A passion for supporting Aboriginal women, babies and families
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • An understanding of Aboriginal community, culture and health
  • This is an identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Proof of Aboriginality is a legitimate requirement. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-discrimination Act
