Management Accountant - Community Services

  • Wodonga, VIC
  • Accounting/Finance

  • Wodonga not-for-profit organisation
  • $110,000 plus super and not-for-profit salary packaging
  • Permanent full-time (or four days per week)

Reporting is more satisfying when you can see it being used. This role offers the opportunity to understand what drives performance, help program managers make informed decisions and improve the way a finance team works to deliver services to clients.

Sawyer Sourcing is recruiting a Management Accountant for an established community services organisation on the Border. Combining management accounting with day-to-day team leadership, the position suits an accountant who enjoys analysis, practical problem-solving and working closely with people.

Your contribution
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with the CFO, you’ll prepare and interpret financial information, support budgeting and forecasting, and help managers understand their results.

You’ll also guide an existing finance team, coordinating workloads and providing technical support across accounts payable, receivables and payroll. This is a hands-on position, including payroll cover when required.

Your work will include:
  • Preparing management reports, month-end reconciliations, budgets and forecasts.
  • Investigating variances and explaining financial performance to managers.
  • Improving reporting, financial controls and accounting processes.
  • Coaching finance staff and coordinating day-to-day priorities.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce manual work and make better use of systems and business intelligence.
Your background
You’re a tertiary-qualified accountant with strong experience in management reporting, budgeting, reconciliations and financial controls.

You enjoy working with colleagues outside finance and can explain what the numbers mean in clear, practical terms. You’ve also had experience supervising, coordinating or developing others and are comfortable providing guidance while staying close to the detail.

You may currently be a Management Accountant, Senior Accountant or Finance Team Leader. Your experience and approach matter more than your current title.

CA or CPA qualifications are highly regarded. Previous not-for-profit or community services experience is welcome, although sector experience is not essential.

Why consider it
This is an opportunity to broaden your contribution across accounting, people leadership and process improvement, with a Finance Manager and CFO to work alongside.
The package includes:
  • $110,000 plus superannuation
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging benefits
  • Four-day working week negotiable
  • Professional development opportunities
  • FIVE WEEKS ANNUAL LEAVE available
