Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service (AWAHS) is dedicated to providing high-quality primary healthcareto the Aboriginal community in Albury, Wodonga, and surrounding areas.
This is a dual role. We are seeking a professional to oversee Work, Health, and Safety (WHS)across AWAHS sites in NSW and Victoria, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and also support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) by assisting with quality management system administration and collaborating on improvement initiatives.
The WHS function involves the coordination and management of all workplace health and safety systems, ensuring alignment with organisational policies, procedures, and legal obligations.
Key responsibilities include:
Identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing appropriate control measures to mitigate workplace incidents
Providing expert advice on occupational health and incident prevention strategies to management and staff
Collaborating with employees and management to foster a proactive WHS culture within the organisation
Promoting and overseeing the reporting of incidents, near misses, and hazards, including the investigation and rectification process
Ensuring all WHS systems and processes integrate effectively with other business functions to enhance operational efficiency
Monitoring compliance with federal and state WHS legislation, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
Overseeing administrative and reporting obligations related to WHS
Develop, implement, maintain and review policies and procedures and work within the LogicqQMS system
The CQI component of the role is focused on supporting quality management and driving organisational improvements.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting the CQI Coordinator in maintaining and updating records within the CQI system
Participating in external audits and contributing to the development and completion of CQI projects
Identifying opportunities for quality and process improvements across the organisation
Evaluating and implementing initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and service delivery
Selection Criteria:
Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in WHS and Quality
Demonstrated understanding of Quality Improvement philosophy and processes
Proven experience in developing, managing, and improving WHS systems, policies, and procedures
Strong ability to assess risks, interpret complex information, and provide effective solutions
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Excellent written, verbal, and IT skills for reporting, training, and stakeholder engagement
Ability to engage respectfully and professionally with the local Aboriginal community
Must hold a current valid driver’s licence
